I would like to propose the creation of a secondary server for PvP. It would act like a tournament where players can choose the size of their battles so they can have anything from huge fleet fights to a person to person brawl. This server would have mirrored skills and isk from Tranquility.
The server wouldnÆt need any Stations, Planets or Systems as they would be unnecessary. This in turn reduces the load such a server would have as it doesnÆt need to maintain all the data for Stations, Planets and Systems. Also since the fights are all expected it would make it more manageable.
This service could come at an extra fee of about five Euros a month. Though of course I would prefer it if it was free. The effects of this extra PvP server on the EVE-Online community would be:
- That people could arrange honest fights without the possibility of there being reinforcements for either side. So if a person entered a one-on-one fight they would know that there wonÆt be a person help either one of them.
- This will allow people that can only play for a short amount of time to participate in PvP. This is because they can just log onto the PvP server and find a fight to join.
- The players can choose the scope of their battles so they can choose between fleet fights or one-on-one. Also since the fights are not going to grow in size after they start the server can distribute resources accordingly.
- Electronic Warfare will become useful again as there will be smaller fights as well as larger ones. Currently Electronic Warfare is useless as the scale of battles is so big they cannot disable enough ships and they generally are not able to survive the Alpha Strike of a large fleet.
- The additional server can be used to test the PvP aspects of EVE. In my opinion changes are slow and the only core changes I can think of are the Nano-Nerf, ECM-Nerf and T3 which is still not prevalent and different sized rigs which I believe makes Battle Cruisers overpowered for their price.
- This will make the game more interesting for PvP oriented players. However, it contradicts CCPs ôOne Universeö marketing point, makes Tranquillity uninteresting, could not attract enough people and may destroy EVE Online.
I have tried to make it more legible so people can actually read it.
My main concern is where you actually say that it may destroy EVE Online yet all your positive things aren't really good enough to justify the risk.
Also it's always fun to gank ratters, fighting unexpected fights as well as fights that well, actually mean something!
As far as the majority of the PvP community are concerened the PvP server you are suggesting is a bit like WoWs battlegrounds, fighting for the sake of fighting. In EVE fighting for the sake of fighting where you don't really achieve anything other than a score is unrewarding.
Edit: Next time please use a word processor to write your post. Also add double line breaks between your paragaphs. That was really hard to read. ______________________________
